6 Tips To Boost Your Mental Health During Lockdown

There is no denying that the last few months have been crazy to say the least. The lockdown experience has probably been different for everyone but one thing that I have frequently heard is the struggle of trying to stay fit (both physically and mentally) and motivated at home. So we decided to accept the challenge and research various methods and tips on how to boost your (mental) health during lockdown.

We collected a variety of tips; motivational tips, fitness tips, mental health tips and diet tips. These are some of our favourites:

1. Make to-do lists the night before

This has worked wonders for us. Even if you don’t have that much to do, write anything down that you can think of. Stick to a plan and finish your tasks, this will clear your head which can beneficially impact your sleep and reduce stress. By having an overview in front of you, it is easier to stick to a plan and fulfil tasks that you might had forgotten if it was not for the list.

2. Make your bed every single day

This tip might be extremely logical to some of you but funny enough not everyone makes their bed in the morning. Making your bed can give a sense of accomplishment and satisfactory, and let’s be honest, we can use all the positive and happy feelings that we get in these difficult times.

3. Read, read and read!!

    If you have loads of free time on your hands, this is the tip for you. Read! Reading is such a good habit to develop; it stimulates your brain, time flies by (if it is a good book of course) and it is really good for your mental health. Studies actually show that stress levels are reduced by 68% after reading. So, much better than spending countless of hours on social media! My top three book recommendations are;

    All three books are completely different but sooo good!

    4. Yoga/meditation exercises

    Yoga and meditation are not for everyone but they are such good ways to combine exercise and mindfulness. Try scheduling 30 mins daily to practice some yoga and meditation exercises. I promise you will feel brand-new after 😊 (there are loads of apps and Youtube video’s available of exercise inspo so no worries, you can easily do this at home!) If you don’t like yoga or meditation, try other exercises that you enjoy doing!

    5. Replace sugary snacks with Cute Nutrition shakes & juices

    Personally, I have struggled with lockdown cravings.

    There is nothing wrong with eating or drinking something sweet, as long as it is not full of sugar or loads of calories. Our shakes and skinny juices are sweet without the added sugar and calories.

    So replacing those cookies, chocolates and sweets with a chocolate or cookies & cream meal replacement shake really does work wonders. Or what about low calorie pancakes? Donut flavoured and sooo yummy. Add some lemon juice and honey for toppings and you have got yourself a lovely brunch.

    6. Pamper yourself babe!

    Grab your favourite face mask, body scrub, nail polish; you name it! There is nothing more relaxing than ending the day with a pamper sesh. Your ‘me-time’ is important, so please enjoy it! And do not feel guilty if you do enjoy your favourite snack whilst pampering yourself. We all need it sometimes 😉
